Local Fiestas and celebrations

If Andalucia is the region of 100 fiestas, it is reasonable to assume that some will be found in Lucainena de las Torres. Every year several fiestas take place and are celebrated by the entire village. Visitors are of course cordially invited to take part in the celebrations.
Some of the said fiestas are:

20th January: Fiesta in honour of the Saint Sebastian.
A fiesta typical of the Sierras Filabres and Alhamilla area and in this village is celebrated with great enthusiasm.
This popular tradition involves the throwing of bread rings from the balconies of the houses as the procession passes. The rings are specially made for the occasion and signify an offering to the saint from his devotees in the village.

24th & 25th June: Fiesta celebrated in the outlying hamlet of Polopos in honour of their patron saint San Juan.

25th July: Fiesta in honour of Santiago. This fiesta consists of a pilgrimage to the nearby “Rambla Honda”, where a mass is celebrated in honour of the patron. The ceremony is followed by a meal of traditional local recipes in the form of a picnic. The proceedings will almost inevitably continue until the early hours!

3rd week of August: The day for the tourists. A fiesta with both a cultural and sporting flavour, with various sports events being mixed with a theatre workshop and open air cinema.

SeptemberTown Fair: During the 3rd week of September the towns fiesta takes place in honour of the patroness.
Beginning on Friday and finishing on Sunday evening, the fiesta includes many diverse activities catering for all ages and is mostly centred around the town square.
